Situated directly on the main traffic artery in the city’s west side, the terminal will offer 10,600 sqm of cargo handling and storage space in the first stage along with more than 1,300 sqm of office space. The finished project will provide a total of around 33,000 sqm of covered area.
”We're excited about building on such a busy traffic junction. We’re planning on moving into the new terminal next spring," explains Thomas Moser, GW Regional Manager South East. Currently GW Romania employs more than 100 individuals. Last year they generated a turnover of 10.3 million euros. ”We place a strong focus on developing our national distribution network. In the past three months we've opened new offices for FTL in Constanţa, Cluj, Bacău and Sibiu. We are also creating additional cargo handling area in Bacău and Sibiu,” Moser continues. In the next two years he is expecting this to lead to both a doubling of turnover and the current number of staff.
Strong Eastern European Network
The new construction project in Romania is an integral part of this year's 51-million-euro investment programme at GW. The goal is to achieve even closer customer proximity in Eastern Europe. ”We’re investing in Eastern Europe to provide our customers with solutions from within our integrated organisation,” explains Moser. For him the combination of a technically powerful logistics network along with the knowledge and experience of employees is what makes GW different. ”We do not only invest in facilities and technologies but, at the same time, we also invest in the qualification of our employees – this is how we guarantee the success of our customers.”
